Is there a visual distinction between male and female striped bass? How would I identify its sex without gutting it?

(11/10/2003)

From the website!

I have fished the San Pablo bay for 20 years near Crocket/Rodeo area and I used to catch 20 and 30 pounders regularly.  For the past 10 years the average is 10 to 15 pounds. Your graph on population shows a spike up. I do not think it is correct.
