3.0 METHODOLOGY
3.1 PLANTS
3.1.1 Special Status Plants
Formal botanical surveys were not conducted; CDFG personnel noted plant species when
conducting any field activities. Appendix A is a plant list combining plant species noted by
CDFG biologists, a DWR botanist, and a USFWS biologist. Also included are plant species
noted in checklists by the Corps and the California State Parks Department.
3.1.2 Vernal Pools
Formal surveys were not conducted for vernal pools; potential vernal pools were
observed in the foothill and canyon reaches by CDFG biologists during the early winter
months in 1994, prior to their filling with water. These potential vernal pools were not
recorded as such because follow-up surveys were not able to be made during late winter and
spring when identification could have been verified.
