 Chameleon Goby (Tridentiger trigonocephalus)
Distribution of chameleon gobies in San
Francisco Bay
Chameleon gobies were introduced, presumably by way of ship ballast,
in the early 1960's. They appear to be confined to the marine regions of the Bay.
Chameleon gobies reach sexual maturity in one year and may live up to
three years, reaching a length of about
110 mm. They spawn several times in one year . In San
Francisco Bay, peak spawning appears to
take place from May to September.
Annual abundance indices for chameleon
gobies are generated from the San Francisco Bay
Monitoring Program using otter trawl data.
